Everybody meet Janiece. She's a 40 year old bank manager from Chicago, Illinois!

Describe yourself in 3 words: Friendly, fun, and shy.

Tell us about your personal style.

 I would describe my personal style as modern-chic. I love to follow trends. My favorite item to wear is a dress. From modern to vintage, any dress will do. I am also learning to love prints. I often look to blogs for inspiration.

Who are your style icons? Tracee Ellis Ross, Rachael Roy, Mary Mary & Michelle Obama.

Have you ever struggled with self-identity issues because of your complexion? If so what are some things you did to accept yourself for who you are and love yourself? 

As a kid, I was often teased about being dark. I remember running home  from school and looking at myself in the mirror. I would say to myself  "I don't see anything wrong with my skin, it's pretty to me". Ever since then I have always loved my skin. It's sad when many people associate being dark with being ugly. But I think the perception of that is changing because there are so many beautiful dark women representing. GO DGR'S!!!!

Do you have any advice for other dark-skinned women that are struggling with accepting themselves because of the color of their skin?

I would tell them that dark skin is beauty and to love yourself and the skin that you are in.

What do you like most about being dark-skinned? 

I like that my dark skin is beautiful and unique. I am very proud of my dark skin.
