Hope you all are doing lovely and feeling great! Today for the Dark-skinned Girls Rock! series we're featuring Narcisa of Cisa09. Find out more about here below!
Narcisa H.
Everyone meet Narcisa. Shes a 29 year old Early Childhood Teacher from Brooklyn, NY!
Describe yourself in three words: Elegant, Chic, & Vibrant.
Tell us about your personal style.
My style is ever changing. I wear clothes that scream my name. When I shop I look for one of a kind stand out pieces. I must say as a "newlywed" my style has changed from daring to elegant. I love things that sparkle but then again what woman doesn't?! Lol. Accessories have been a major part of my wardrobe as well as precious gems from my grandmother's closet. I have inherited her brooches and earrings as well as many other things.

Who are your style icons?
Hands down my style icon is/was my grandmother Inez Miller. Her
wardrobe was full of heels, furs, and sequence my favorite.

Have you ever struggled with self-identity issues because of your complexion? If so what are some things you did to accept yourself for who you are and love yourself?
Struggles were my best friend as a young girl. Late Elementary and Junior High was the worst. I came home crying everyday from being teased about how dark I was. I heard every dark-skinned joke in the book. The words hurt but yet I knew I was beautiful and loved, thanks to my parents and a father that loved me to the core (and still does). My father reassured me daily how beautiful and special I was. His famous line was "the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice." I used it and recited it everyday. My relationship with Christ was and is the main source of strength that held me through. I know that I am created in His image fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14).

Do you have any advice for other dark-skinned women that are struggling with accepting themselves because of the color of their skin?
My message to all women dark-skinned, light-skinned, any skin you're in...know that God has a B.I.A.S. over you. You Belong to Him. Your Identity is found in Him. He Accepts
you for who you are. Your Security lies in Him.
What do you like most about being dark-skinned?
I love that I can wear any color and work it to the bone!! Lol.
