Hope you are doing lovely and feeling great! I first want to apologize for the lack of posts. My life is a little hectic right now and I have been preoccupied with other things. I will let you know more about it in a future post. Anywho, since its Monday another lovely lady is being featured for the Dark-skinned Girls Rock series. Today we're featuring Sindy from Sindy Stylz!
Sindy Augustin
Everybody meet Sindy. She's a 33 year old high end salesperson, personal shopper and freelance stylist from Davie, FL.
Describe yourself in 3 words. Fashionable, loving mom, and loyal friend.
Tell us about your personal style.
My personal style is chic, feminine, and classy. Im a big believer on you can look sexy and classy at the same time without having to show everything.
Who are your style icons? Tracee Ellis Ross (effortless style).
Have you ever struggled with self-identity issues because of your complexion? If so what are some things you did to accept yourself for who you are and love yourself?
I honestly had very little self-identity issues because of my complexion but thats mainly because I went to a predominantly black high school and everyone looked like me. I was able to build my self confidence through the female role models in my life who are my mom and aunts. They were no nonsense women that always got the job done no matter what. Watching them taught me to do what makes you happy and don't focus on what other people have to say.
Do you have any advice for other dark-skinned women that are struggling with accepting themselves because of the color of their skin?
The best advice I can give to someone struggling with accepting themselves because of the color of their skin is you have to learn to LOVE yourself first. Life is too short to be unhappy about your skin color. Surround yourself with positive people that that will help you embrace your beauty.
What do you like most about being dark-skinned?
EVERYTHING! Especially my skin tone. Im happy that I don't NEED to go to the beach to achieve that. LOL!
Thank you so much Sindy for participating in the series! I love how you used your female role models to help you build your self confidence. And you are so right, life is too short to be unhappy about the color of your skin. Just embrace it! Don't forget to check out Sindy's blog, Sindy Stylz. And you can catch her tweeting @sindystylz.
