Hey Everyone,
Hope you all are doing lovely and feeling great! If you have been a reader of
CherrieAmore for some time, you know that every Monday an amazing dark-skinned woman is featured for the
Dark-skinned Girls Rock! series. The series was started in hopes to help and inspire dark-skinned women who struggle with self-identity because of the color of their skin to learn how to love themselves and accept themselves for who they are.
I have gotten a lot of positive emails from readers pertaining to the series since it started in January of this year; but one email in particular that was sent to me last week touched me dearly. While reading the email so many emotions arose within me. I felt sad, heartbroken, and empathized with her (the reader) because I know all too well the feelings and hardships that she was going through because of her outward appearance (you can read about my struggle
here). I also felt disgusted because of the ill way she was treated because of her exterior.
She stated in her email that she was searching the internet for some inspiration when she came across the
Dark-skinned Girls Rock! series. She said I need to keep this series going because it is vital to have a different perspective on this topic on the internet. I can't tell you how good that made me feel! I am happy that this series is doing what I had dreams of it doing, which is touching the lives of dark-skinned women struggling with self-identity.

You know I absolutely love this series, and you have featured so many gorgeous, talented, inspirational women on here, and I look forward to seeing the many to come :). Keep up the fantastic job. This has helped me in more ways than I can tell you, and just knowing that there are so many of us out there who face this type of discrimination and treatment, but have risen above and are still shining just as bright is awesome!!
