Hey Luvs,
Hope you all are doing lovely and feeling great! In the beginning of every year I write down a list of things that I would like to accomplish throughout that year. During the year, I revisit them to see if I accomplished any of the goals or have made strides towards accomplishing them. I decided to share some of my 2013 goals with you all. Please beware, this post is a little wordy lol.
FYI, these goals are in no particular order. Enjoy the photos...and my goals lol.
1. Shop way less than I did in 2012. I must admit, blogging has caused me to shop a lot more than I would like to. I always want to keep up with the latest trends or I would see another blogger rocking something and would have to get it. This year ain't nobody got time or money for that *Sweet Brown Voice*. I spend wayyyyy to much money buying things that I don't need. Shoes, clothes, makeup, nail polish you name it! Instead of splurging, I'm going to invest that extra money into my future and save it! To help curb my shopping, I unsubscribed to a whole bunch of online store email subscriptions. I do most of my shopping online, so I know this will help me save a bunch of money and lessen the amount of shopping I do.
2. Journaling more. I used to journal a lot when I was
younger, now its either I'm too lazy or too tired to write in my journal before I go to bed. When I read my
old journal entries, I appreciate my life sooo much more because I see
everything that I have been through and how far I have come. It also helps me capture a lot of memories. Sometimes I would read old journal entries and be like "forreal
that really happened?!" or" what?! I did that...what was I thinking!?" Lol.
3. Become a better blogger. I know that CherrieAmore could be much more than
what it is and I honestly have not put in the time to make it what I
know it can become. I have so many other priorities i.e. finishing school
and determining my future career path, that sometimes my blog takes a very neglected backseat. This year I'm going to work
harder at becoming a better blogger and making the connections necessary
to see my blog strive more.
4. Doing the 52 week money saving challenge (click here for a picture
of the challenge). I already save at least 10% of my monthly income every month,
but I want to try this challenge for additional savings. For 52 weeks, the goal is to save one dollar more than you
did the previous week. For example, week 1 you set aside $1.00 to save. In week 2 you set aside $2.00 to save and so on. At the end of the 52 weeks
you should have $1378.00 saved (before interest)!! Curls and Mo had
a great tip of working backwards to accrue more interest. So for week
1, you would save $52.00 instead of $1.00 and for week 2 you would save
$51 instead of 2.00 etc. Visit Bankrate.com if you need help finding no fee saving accounts and savings accounts that give you interest. I missed out on
weeks 1 and 2 of the challenge, but I will be caught up by next
week.
5. Maintaining connections (business-wise). I'm a shy person, so
maintaining connections are a little hard for me. I have no problem
making connections (I know its weird, but being a professional student
ha! has helped me a lot with my "making connection" abilities), but maintaining them are hard. I don't like awkward conversations and cheesy
talk, and I'm not really good and sending follow-up emails. I will work on it lol.
6. Remembering biblical scriptures. I read my bible a
lot, but I am not the best when it comes to quoting scriptures. I know whats morally
wrong and right and whats in the bible and whats not in the bible, but
ask me to quote a scripture about jealousy and I would have to google it
lol.
7. Finishing graduate school. I will get out of school this year by May! I am not playing lol! I have not had the best graduate school experience, but overall I am still thankful for the opportunity to get advanced education. Throughout grad school, I have dealt with so much adversity and setbacks which have hindered me from getting my degree, but I'm moving forward and am very optimistic that the end of the graduate school chapter is near. I've been working too hard for it not to be.
8. Wear my natural hair out more. My hair is always in braids, weaves, and under a wig lol. I told myself that I need to do better and embrace my hair (I'm rocking it proud in this post). If you have "liked" my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram (cherriej) you can see a few of my natural hair pics.
Love my rugged booties !
9. Getting a more toned body. I have been working out regularly for two years and have seen little changes in my body. My legs have toned a lot but other than that I have not seen much improvement in any other area! Getting toned is 70% diet and 30% working out. I know I am a healthy eater, but I can eat healthier than I do now. 2013 I'm working harder in the gym and making my diet healthier...I got toned arms, a toned back, and a sexy tummy on my mind.
10. Starting a Blog Store. I have so many clothes and shoes laying around my house that I do not wear that I know others would love and appreciate. So this year I am starting a blog shop to sell some of my gently used and never worn items. I have even set up a page for it, so check back from time to time to see when it launches!
11. Developing old/lost connections and enhancing existing connections. There are people who used to be a major part of my life that I miss dearly. But because I have pride issues and a fear of rejection, I'm scared to reach out to them to repair things. Hopefully I will put my pride aside this year and muster up the courage to mend broken bridges. I would also like to enhance the existing connections I have with some of my family members and close friends.
